Orlando Jacinto Garcia is Professor of Composition, program coordinator for music composition, and Composer in Residence for the School of Music at Florida International University. With a career that spans over 30 years of teaching at the university level, many of his students have gone on to successful lives as artists and teachers in diverse settings. Former students have received awards ranging from Guggenheim fellowships and the Prix de Rome to recognition from the Grammy and Latin Grammys. Several have received important awards for their teaching and others have made important contributions in film and TV writing as well as in other aspects of the music industry. His focus on his students’ success is evident by the accolades they have received and the contributions they have made.
